Okay, I figured it out. In your help, you list --fatfilename and -w as being the same. but -w is just the whitespace option. The fatfilename option in combination with whitespace works!

You are right - I missed that typo in the fatfilename patch - I'd even fixed it since - sorry! I think you'll also find that --fatfilename without -w works also as they are both independent.
