Recording for a Freecom 450 WLAN

Does anyone here have any experience of playing get_iplayer recorded H264 content on a Freecom 450 WLAN Media device ?

The freecom blurb claims support for mp4,divx,xvid etc etc but turns out to be really really picky about formats.
I download the flashhd content and can play it fine on my PC and laptop, but the freecom fails miserably.

I am using Super to transcode the mp4 into WMV files, which turn out twice as large as the originals, but the conversion takes hours.
So far this is the only format I have found that lip syncs ok on the freecom.

I guess what I am asking is - is there any way of getting get_iplayer to either download playable content or transcode as it downloads ?
If anyone has any experience of the freecom I would love to hear how you get on with it !

PS. The freecom support forum is abysmal btw - I really ought to check out the manufacturers support forums first before I buy my next gadget !
