Web PVR on AppleTV problems..

I'm trying to get get_iplayer.cgi running under apache2 on an OSX (AppleTV) box. I have apache2 (part of XAMPP) starting at boot-time as the default webserver so it's run as root (to run on port 80). To stop filling the OS_Boot partition on the ATV with logs and other junk all the XAMPP files are on the ATV's Scratch partition under /Users/frontrow/XAMPP/ and then symlinked to appear in the filesystem locations that scripts expect them to be in, e.g. /usr/bin/perl is linked to the XAMPP version of perl which includes all the modules needed to run get_iplayer.

get_iplayer/ffmpeg/flvstreamer are in /usr/bin/ and I can download things fine when it's used from the CLI as normal. I can browse to http://appletv.local and I get the GUI, can browse for shows, set preferences, etc.

but if I attempt to queue something I see:

At the moment I have a symbolic link for /.get_iplayer/ which points to /Users/frontrow/.get_iplayer (on the Scratch partition). I also created /etc/get_iplayer/ in response to another similar message. Both locations are chmod 755 so should be writeable by any user ..so I'm stumped on why the PVR searches can't be saved?

If I go to download something directly I see a different error:

Again.. everything has been chmod 755'd so should be writeable. NB: the files downloaded in the folder were done from the CLI, not via WebPVR.

Any suggestions!?

Both locations are chmod 755 so should be writeable by any user

chmod 777 is I think what you meant to use.
Have you tried the SetEnv HOME stuffas per the instructions in README-get_iplayer.cgi.txt ?

I hadn't used SetEnv; this created a new .get_iplayer folder in the webserver root. I also chmod 777'd the script files and directories. This didn't achieve anything until I also set the recordings directory to be the webserver root folder. That was the missing trick so all is working now. I just need to move recordings to a sub-folder of the webserver root and then symlink that directory back to where the various AppleTV player apps expect the content to live.

NB: I plan to reset the AppleTV box and redo things cleanly as a test of the instructions I've been compiling. I'll post them here as a FAQ once they're repeatable.
